On October 31, 2016, the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce announced through social media that the deadline for registration in the National Database Registry will be extended to June 30, 2017.

Failure to meet obligations and protect personal data may incur sanctions including:

• Fines of up to 2,000 times the statutory minimum wage
• Suspension of data-processing-related activities for six months
• Temporary closure of data processing operations
• Immediate termination of data processing operations
